From the Archives…

Women have been a vital part of the King’s community since the sister of the first Provost was married to the Chapel Clerk of Works in the 1450’s, and for hundreds of years the running of the College depended on the work of legions of women, from laundresses and nurses to bedders and kitchen staff.

This exhibition from the College Archives looked at this rich history and in particular at the remarkable changes that took place in the 100 years between the founding of Girton and Newnham and the first admission of women as undergraduate students at King’s in 1972.
